What Do Parents Do While Their Child is at Tutoring? A Guide to Making the Most of Your Time

Introduction

You’ve signed your child up for tutoring—great choice! But what do you do while they’re busy improving their maths and English skills? Here’s how parents at Kip McGrath Aldridge make the most of their time while their child is learning.

1. Browse the shops

If you’re here for the early slot then the village centre will still be open with Aldridge Gifts and Jewellery, Home Bargains and several charity shops are open to tempt you!

2. Head to the Gym or Exercise

Staying active can be a challenge with a busy schedule, so some parents take advantage of tutoring time to fit in a workout. Whether it’s a quick gym session, a run, or a brisk walk, it’s a great way to squeeze in some exercise while your child is learning.

3. Run Errands

With an hour or so to spare, many parents use this time to tick off small errands:
✅ Picking up groceries
✅ Popping to collect a delivery parcel
✅ Collecting prescriptions
✅ Sorting out the weekly shop

It’s amazing what you can get done when you have a focused window of time!

4. Enjoy a Coffee and a Break

Sometimes, a break is exactly what you need! Parents often grab a coffee at a local café and enjoy some downtime—reading a book, scrolling through social media, or just enjoying a peaceful moment before the school run chaos kicks in again.

5. Catch Up with Friends or Family

Busy schedules mean it’s often hard to make time for socialising. Some parents use this time to meet up with a friend for a chat or call a relative they haven’t spoken to in a while.

6. Read, Listen to a Podcast, or Learn Something New

If you enjoy personal development, why not use this time to:
📖 Read a book
🎧 Listen to a podcast
📚 Study a new skill or hobby
It’s a great way to use the time for self-improvement while your child is learning, too!

How Will You Use Your Time?

Whether you choose to work, exercise, socialise, or relax, your child’s tutoring session is an opportunity for both of you to benefit. At Kip McGrath Aldridge, we’re not just here to help students—we want parents to feel comfortable and supported, too.
