Everything You Need To Know About Tutoring In One Place
Frequently Asked Questions:
Who do we tutor?
Our services are for anyone (aged 6-18) who wants to improve their maths and/ or English skills. Whether that be with an upcoming exam in mind, general confidence, missed schooling or the desire to be stretched further.
The majority of our students are paid for by their parents but we also cater for a large number of children in care whose Pupil Premium funding can be used to pay for tuition.
We can also offer 11 plus support on top of the curriculum to those who are wishing to sit the exam.
What time are the lessons?
Lessons take place either at the centre or online, the times we currently work are from Monday – Friday 4pm onwards, and Saturday mornings. Special arrangements can be made for online lessons outside of these times, please contact us to discuss individual cases.
Is it 1:1?
The tuition takes place in a small group setting, which means that all students have a private, individual lesson taking place alongside up to 3 other students.
The students are all of varying levels and are guided by a tutor who is an expert in their subject and ability level. This arrangement means that students have the time and space to become independent workers and to build their confidence by completing tasks they are capable of on their own, and also to start filling the gaps in their knowledge by having the support and teaching from the tutor where needed.
Do you set homework?
Each lesson comes with homework that is designed to either consolidate the work done in the lessons or occasionally used to plan the next lesson in the case of older students. The more the students complete of their homework, the more progress they make overall. We also provide either verbal or written feedback each lesson so parents can keep a track of how it’s going.
How much is it?
The standard lesson price is £35 per lesson (60 mins).
How do you take payments?
Most payments are taken weekly via our automated system by card or direct debit. We are Ofsted registered so can therefore accept childcare vouchers and TFCC via the gov.uk website. If you are a mature student (as a parent) then you may be entitled to childcare help which can also be used towards our fees. The lessons are paid for continuously every week and two weeks notice is needed to cancel any enrolments.
Are you open in the holidays?
We are closed for two weeks at Christmas, one week at Easter and the last week in August. (please see the term dates tab on your LHS)
Apart from that we are open every week. There will be reduced session times available during half terms and summer etc.
